Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Go to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- For more options go to Settings
- Access Display and optionally, enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout settings, tap Sleep and select a lower value such as 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can turn the phones connectivity features Off, such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to turn the features Off
- For more options, go to Settings
- For GPS options, access Location
- Tap mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & mobile hotspot and turn the feature Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Tap more under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps can perform background processes that can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the phone, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Go to Apps
- Ensure All apps is selected
- Tap the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app from the phone, tap Uninstall
Reduce Account Sync:
NOTE: You may be able to improve battery life in the long run by reducing the amount of data synced by your apps and accounts.
- Open Settings
- Access Personal
- Tap Accounts
- Select an account type and an account
- Change the available options to change sync settings as desired
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can include battery life improvements and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down to and tap About phone
- Go to System updates
- Verify if new updates are available and follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process. Note that the update process will require at least one reboot
