Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left
  3. For additional options, open “Settings”
  4. Go to “Display” and turn “Adaptive brightness” On or Off
  5. For timeout options return to “Settings” and tap “Sleep”
  6. Select a lower timeout duration such as “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Device” > “Battery”
  3. Tap “Menu”
  4. Enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: You can turn your phone’s connectivity features Off when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
  2. From the quick toggle area, tap the “Wi-Fi” “Location” (GPS) and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to disable the features
  3. Open “Settings” for more options
  4. Go to “Location” then tap “mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “more” under “Wireless & Networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & Portable hotspot” and disable the feature

Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Tap “Mobile network” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Change Sync Settings:

NOTE: By reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts and apps, you can potentially improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Personal” and access “Accounts’
  3. Select an account type and the desired account
  4. Modify the available settings to reduce sync as desired

Minimize Third-Party App Usage:

NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. Thus you can remove or disable unused third-party apps to potentially improve battery life.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Apps”
  3. If necessary, switch to “All apps”
  4. Select the desired app
  5. To turn the app off, tap “Disable” / “Force Stop”
  6. To remove the app from the phone, tap “Uninstall”

Keep the OS Up To Date:

NOTE: Software updates can provide battery life improvements and thus it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Access “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates”
  4. Check if a new update is available for download
  5. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot to complete)
