Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings and tap Display
- Enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout options tap Sleep and select a lower value
Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saver
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the devices connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Location and Bluetooth quick toggles to disable the features
- Launch Settings
- Access Location for GPS options then tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & portable hotspot and disable the features
Temporarily Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps
- Switch to All apps if necessary
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Launch Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type
- Tap the desired account
- Change the available sync settings to reduce sync
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS updated at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone > System updates
- Check if a new update is available for download
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (NOTE: the process will require to reboot the phone at least once)
