Back Up & Restore App Data:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Personal
- Tap Backup & reset
- Enable Back up my data to back up app data, settings, and Wi-Fi passwords to your backup account
- Enable Automatic Restore to allow app data, settings, and passwords to be restored automatically the next time you log in with the backup account or when reinstalling apps
Back Up & Restore Contacts:
- Open Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type
- Tap the account to use for contact syncing
- Make sure the Contacts check box is ticked
- Tap Menu > Sync Now
NOTE: Contacts backed up using this method can be restored automatically the next time you sign in with the backup account or by manually syncing the account data and contacts with the Android device.
Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:
- Connect the Android phone to the computer via USB
- On the phone, enable Media device / File Transfer when prompted or from the notification shade
- Open the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media files on the phone
- Copy and transfer the files to the desired backup location on the computer
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the phone from the USB port
Restore Media Files from a PC:
- Connect the Android device to the computer via USB
- On the phone, enable File Transfer / Media device at the prompt or from the Notification area
- Launch the File Explorer on the computer
- Locate the media backup files on the PC
- Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folder from where they originate
- Once done, eject the phone storage and safely disconnect the device from the USB port
