Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Open Settings
- Access Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
- Open Settings
- Go to Display and optionally enable or disable Adaptive brightness
- For timeout duration, tap Sleep and select a lower value like 15 seconds
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth, to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Wi-Fi Bluetooth and Location quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings and access Location
- Tap Mode and enable Battery saving
- Return to Settings and tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Tap Tethering & Portable hotspot and turn the features Off
Switch to 2G Networks Temporarily:
NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Open Settings
- Tap More under Wireless & Networks
- Go to Mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You might improve battery life in the long run by reducing the amount of data being synced by your apps/accounts. To do this:
- Open Settings
- Access Accounts
- Tap the desired account type
- Select an account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Some third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps from the device you may improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps > All apps
- Select the desired app
- To turn the app off, tap Disable / Force Stop
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times.
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone > System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the update (the process will require you to reboot the phone at least once)
