Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device
- Tap Battery > Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left
- Open Settings
- Go to Display
- Optionally, turn Adaptive brightness ON or OFF
- For timeout options, tap Sleep and select a lower value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when not actively in use to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life in the long run.
- Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen
- Tap the Location Bluetooth and Wi-Fi quick toggles to disable the features
- Open Settings and access Location for more GPS settings
- Tap Menu and enable Battery saving
- Go back to Settings and expand Wireless & Networks
- Disable Tethering & Mobile hotspot
Switch to 2G Networks:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a wall socket or battery bank, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by switching to 2G networks temporarily.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Wireless & Networks
- Tap Mobile networks > Preferred network type
- Enable 2G
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can potentially improve battery life by reducing the amount of data synced by your accounts.
- Launch Settings
- Access Accounts
- Select an account type and the desired account
- Change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Minimize Third-Party App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the devices battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By removing or disabling unused third-party apps, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps
- Switch to All apps or Downloaded if necessary
- Select the desired app and tap Force Stop / Disable
- To remove the app, tap Uninstall
Keep the OS Updated:
NOTE: OS updates can improve battery life and thus its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates and check if new updates are available
- If so, follow the prompts to download and apply the update
