Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Launch Settings
- Go to Device and tap Battery
- Tap Menu
- Enable Battery saver
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open Settings
- Go to Display
- Optionally, enable or disable adaptive brightness
- For timeout settings, tap Sleep and select a lower timeout value
Disable Unused Connectivity Features:
NOTE: You can disable the phones connectivity features when they are not actively in use in order to avoid unnecessary network scans and potentially improve battery life.
- Swipe the Status bar down
- Tap the Bluetooth Wi-Fi and Location quick toggles to turn the features Off
- Open Settings and go to Location for GPS settings
- Tap Menu > Enable battery saving
- Return to Settings and expand Wireless & Networks
- Access and disable Tethering & Mobile hotspot
Temporarily Switch to 2G:
NOTE: If your device runs low on battery and you dont have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve energy until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.
- Launch Settings
- Expand Wireless & Networks and tap mobile networks
- Tap Preferred network type
- Select 2G / GSM
Minimize Third Party-App Usage:
NOTE: Certain third-party apps perform regular background processes which can potentially affect the phones battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. By disabling or uninstalling unused third-party apps, you can avoid this and improve battery life.
- Launch Settings and go to Apps
- Switch to All apps if needed
- Tap the desired application
- Tap Force stop / Disable to turn the app off
- Alternatively, tap Uninstall to remove the app
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: You can change your accounts settings to reduce sync and potentially improve battery life.
- Open Settings
- Go to Accounts and select an account type
- Select an account and change the available settings to reduce sync as desired
Keep the OS Up To Date:
NOTE: OS updates can potentially improve battery life and its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check if new updates are available:
- Launch Settings
- Go to About phone
- Tap System updates
- Check if new updates are available
- If applicable follow the prompts to install updates
