There are much cheaper options for prepay.
Check out this comparission site.
www.cellguru.net
It is for New England, but the carriers covered are national companies. Some of them you may not have heard of. They resell either Cingular, Sprint, or Verizon networks.
Some of the cheapest are
Tmobile to go
10 cents a minute. $100 card gives 1000 minutes, good for a year. No other fees.
Page Plus
10-14 cents a minute. $10 card lasts 120 days. $0.50 monthly fee.
Net10
10 cents a minute. Only makes sense if you use 150-300 minutes per month. No other fees
If you use over 300 minutes a month get a hybrid plan.
Try to avoid companies with daily fees, unless you do a whole lot of talking on nights and weekends.
