    Re: Pre Paid Cell Question

verizons prepaid is one of the most expensive prepaids...
tracfone from walmart is actually pretty cheap if you want something really basic...$20 gets you 60 minutes good for 60 days. Now the coverage might not be as good as cingular or verizon....but it depends on your location...ask around and see what everyone else is using.

    Re: Pre Paid Cell Question

since u have verizon, i assume u have a cdma phone, for prepaid go with virgin mobile and ull save money there. dont take the verizon impulse, its very expensive. Take virgin mobile, check if u have alltel in your area

    FOR GSM,
if you like texting a lot, tmobile to go is the best for you, free to receive

tracfone is a hassle to maintain and c service sucks. if you have good reception in your area of tmobile then youre good to go, since tmobile to go has the smallest network footprint in the US. I highly recommend tmobile to go, i use it as my second number. + tmobile customer service is the best . tmobile to go has some good rates, free t-zones etc. Youll never go wrong

Go for Net10. They sell it at Target and a few other places. They are the cheapest pre-paid cell phone I found so far.

It depends on your needs. Where do you live? (ZIP?) Where else will you need coverage? How many minutes will you use per month? Will you need data or SMS? A little more info and we can help you find the best deal for your needs.

In general prepaid is best for low to moderate users. High volume uses are probably better off sticking to a plan. The advantage if prepaid is that you control how much you spend, and can save alot of money. Also you can leave whenever you want, and arn't stock with something that you arn't happy with.

One other thing of note. Are you currently under contract? If so and you bail before the end on the contract you'll get hit with a large ETF.

If you are happy with your phone/service/coverage you could always downgrade to a cheaper plan with Verizon.

    Re: Pre Paid Cell Question

If verizon is working for you, try pageplus (pagepluscellular.com) they offer the lowest prepaid prices on the verizon network. It ranges from .14-.10 per min. You can buy cards from 10-$80 all which expire after 120 days. The only hidden fee is a unadverized .25 cent fee evey 14 days

    Re: Pre Paid Cell Question

Depends on the usage. If the OP is spending 1 bill every month lets just take the $80 plan with 1350 min plus n/w, plus M2M. Add on a second line and junk fees to reach $100/month. Even buying the $80 cards the OP would end up spending $140 or more per month with the same usage, and not have M2M and N/W. If on a big minute plan the only way the OP will save money on Page Plus, or most prepaid, is to cut back considerably on usage.

Ace, most of what you said didn't make any sense. Virgin Mobile is a MVNO of Sprint, they have nothing to do with Alltel, if that's even what you meant to say. Second of all, most US CDMA providers, even most prepaid resellers, will not or cannot activate another company's phone on their network.

A Verizon phone could only be activated on Verizon's prepaid services, and only if the contract was expired, or ETF paid to get out of the plan. Everyone keeps saying they're expensive, and they might be compared to some others, but I looked at Verizon's prepaid myself a few days ago out of curiousity and thought the one with free calls to other Verizon users sounded ok, if your friends are all with Verizon. Go look for yourself, here's the link:

Pay As You Go Plans - Verizon Wireless

If Nextel has good coverage in your area (yes I know Nextel isn't the best for most people's phone needs, it's great if your friends all use the 2-way), Nextel's prepaid Boost Mobile has a $50/month deal which includes 300 daytime minutes and free nights/weekends starting at 7pm, plus unlimited text and wireless web. If you don't go with the Premium plan (yeah I know "prepaid plan" is sort of an oxymoron) then it's a little more expensive, being 20c/minute before 9pm and 10c/minute after 9pm, but last time I checked, talking to other Nextel, Boost, and Sprint customers was always 10c. Seriously, I wouldn't consider Boost without the Premium plan, that's the only way to get free night's & weekends after 7pm. Considering I pay $15/month for unlimited data and $8/month for 500 texts, dang I'm getting jealous.

    Re: Pre Paid Cell Question

To many options, seems like they have more rules for prepaid than regular service. What about regular services rather than prepaid, I seem to use alot of daytime minutes. I like Nextel incoming free calls, but the reception is bad last time I had the service.

    Thanks

Sprint has the same free incoming plans (if their reception is any better than Nextel in your area), but if you go over your included outgoing minutes, it's 45c/minute after that. So, if the free incoming plan appeals to you, make sure you add enough outgoing minutes to your plan. Sprint, Nextel, and Boost are all recognized as "mobile to mobile" if you pick a Sprint plan with m2m, but how much that saves you depends on how many Sprint and Nextel people you know.

If T-Mobile has good reception in your area, they have pretty good plans, both contract and prepaid, and they seem pretty straightforward and easy to understand.

How long ago did you have Nextel? Right now Sprint Nextel has a rather large coverage area. The free incoming plans look like this:

    $39.99/mo. - 300 Outgoing min. w/Unl. N&W's
    $59.99/mo. - 500 Outgoing min. w/Unl. N&W's
    $79.99/mo. - 800 Outgoing min. w/Unl. N&W's
    $99.99/mo. - 1000 Outgoing min. w/Unl. N&W's

    Re: Pre Paid Cell Question

That might work, I just have to let other people call me to save on my minutes, and get more talk time for free but that's is no problem.

Re: Pre Paid Cell Question look at suntelpcs.com

Hey take a look at suntelpcs.com The have no contract monthly plans starting at 29.99 all with free unlimited nights and weekends. There are no daily fees or any junk usage fees that I know of and they give a decent plan for your money. 250 anytime with free nights and weekends for 39.99 with no deposit no credit check and no contract. I would not recommend any service with out free nights and weekends if you are a moderate talker. those 10.00 cards add up. I would only recommend the pay per minuted plans like pageplus, tmobile, cingular, locus ect if it was for emergency use or for my grandmother (low low low usage). I hope this helps you out. Also on the alltel they charge you minutes when people leave you voicemail-sux-. Anyways good luck searching. Obviously when you sign a contract you always get more bang for your buck in exchange for your 2yr contract.
