    Send SMS Through E-mail
The following is the e-mail address that you would use to send a phone a txt message via e-mail.

    • Cingular: [number]@cingularme.com
    • Nextel: [number]@messaging.nextel.com
    • Sprint: [number]@messaging.sprintpcs.com
    • T-Mobile: [number]@tmomail.net
    • Verizon: [number]@vtext.com
    • Virgin Mobile: [number]@vmobl.com
    • Alltel: [number]@message.alltel.com
    • Boost Mobile: [number]@myboostmobile.com

Don't know what service the person is on you're trying to send a message to?
    Try
    [number]@teleflip.com

They'll do the conversion for you. (limited to 100 messages a month, than they start charging)

    Send SMS Through AIM
    Send an IM to +1XXXXXXXXXX

So if the number is 455-455-4555 you would IM +14554554555

How fast is the message sent? Is there a long delay time?

There shouldn't be. As fast as your provider can process the e-mail and the cell phone provider can process SMS.

    For XE Mobile - <Cell Number>@xetext.com
New! For Cingular/ATT - <Cell Number>@wireless.att.net (they went back to it)

Re: Carrier Txt Message via E-mail

I actually had a question related to this. My girlfriend just began a program studying abroad, but couldn't really afford an international calling plan (and neither could I). However, we both have unlimited texting plans (but no data) in our respective countries. Is there a way to get around this? I was thinking that we could set up our IM providers so that all IMs we received could be forwarded to our cellphones. Basically, I was hoping she could send me text at my screen name, which would then be forwarded to my cell phone, and vice versa. I know AIM has IM Forwarding and AIM to Mobile, but I don't really understand how they work, and I don't want to do that and later find out I'm being charged $5 a text. Thoughts? If this wouldn't work is there a similar solution? Is there somewhere else I should post this? Thanks a lot!
