Back Up App Data:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Tap “Backup and reset” under “Personal”
  4. If necessary, sign in with your Google account. Tap “Backup account” > “Google account” > “Add account”
  5. Enable “Back up my data” and “Backup account”

Back Up Contacts:

  1. Ensure the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network
  2. Tap “Apps” on the home screen and go to “Settings”
  3. Swipe to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  4. Tap “Backup account” and select “HTC Account” or “Google account”
  5. Enable “Automatic Backup” if you want the device to perform automatic daily backups over Wi-Fi
  6. To manually back up contacts, tap “Back up now”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Establish a USB connection between the One M9s and computer
  2. Drag the “Status” bar down and make sure the connection is set to “disk drive” or “Media device (MTP)”
  3. Launch an Explorer window on the computer
  4. Locate and copy the media files on your phone
  5. Navigate to the desired backup location on your computer and transfer the files
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray
  7. Safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the One M9s to your Mac via USB
  2. Ensure the connection is set to “Media device” or “disk drive”
  3. Launch the file explorer on the Mac and locate the desired media files on the phone
  4. Copy the files and transfer them in the desired backup location on the Mac storage
  5. After the transfer is done, drag the phone’s virtual drive in to the “Trash can” icon to eject it
  6. Safely disconnect the device from the USB connector
