Setting Up a Dropbox Account

To benefit of the 23GB of free storage, set up your Dropbox account from the HTC One and on the Dropbox website, complete the getting started guide.

  1. Drag down the Notifications panel.
  2. Then tap Settings -> tap Accounts & sync -> tap the plus sign (+) -> tap Dropbox.
  3. Next, you need to follow the onscreen instructions and create or sign in to an existing Dropbox account.
  4. Use the browser of your computer and go to the Dropbox website -> then log in to your account -> compete the getting started guide.
  5. Congratulations! You now have 23GB of free storage to use as you wish.

Sharing Your Photos and Videos on Dropbox

Using the Gallery, you can upload videos and photos to Dropbox and then share the Dropbox link to your friends.

  1. Open the Gallery app.
  2. Then tap My photos -> select the album where your videos or photos you’d like to share are located.
  3. Tap Share -> select Dropbox.
  4. Select the desired videos or photos -> tap Next when ready.
  5. You can now create or choose an existing folder in Dropbox -> then tap Upload.

Sharing the Link to Your Dropbox

  1. From the Gallery apps, go to the Gallery Albums screen -> then tap Dropbox.
  2. You can select one of the following options:
    • select the desired album you’d like to share -> tap Share.
    • if you want to share a single photo, tap the desired one -> tap it again and select Share to share it.
  3. Select the desired method to share to link to this particular album or picture. For example, you can select to share it by email or post it to one of your social networks.

Sending the Links to Dropbox Files by Email

Thanks to Dropbox, you won’t have to attach the files to the email anymore. Using the Mail app you can now simply include the links to your Dropbox files in the email and send it as such.

  1. Open the Mail app and select the email account you’d like to use this time.
  2. Tap to create a new email message -> in the designated fields enter your recipient and subject line, or just reply to an email if that’s what you want.
  3. You’ll then have the following options:
    • tap the Attach icon and select Document -> then select the document type you’d like to share.
    • tap the Attach icon -> select File and select the type of file you’d like to send.
  4. Then press the Back key -> select Dropbox -> open the folder where the desired file is located -> then choose the files you’d like to share.
  5. Tap Done. You will then see that the links of the files you’ve selected are added to the email message.
  6. To send the email, tap Send.

Saving an Office Document to Dropbox

  1. Open the desired Office document. For example, one that you have attached to an email.
  2. Then tap the More options icon -> select Save as.
  3. Name you file -> tap Options -> select Dropbox.
  4. Then tap Save.
  5. Your Office document will then be saved to the Polaris Office folder located in the root of your Dropbox folder.

Unlinking Your HTC One from Dropbox

  1. From your computer, open a browser and go to the Dropbox website- > log in to your Dropbox account.
  2. Then click Account (it’s located on the right side corner of any page on the website). Alternatively, you can click the name of your account -> tap Settings.
  3. Then click the Security tab -> go to My devices and click Unlock located to the right of your Android device.
  4. To unlink to phone, click Unlink phone.
