Backing up Your HTC 8XT
A Microsoft Account is required in order to back up your HTC 8XT. If theres no Microsoft account set up on your smartphone, you will receive a prompt to log in or create a new account, so tap the desired option and follow the on-screen prompts to either create an account or sign in to an existing one.
- Go to the Start screen and swipe left.
- Then tap Settings.
- Tap backup.
- If you enable the backup feature, your HTC 8XT will automatically create a backup file when you connect to a Wi-Fi network. The backup file can save Apps lists & device settings, text messages, photos or videos as well as accounts.
- If you wish to back up your text messages, tap text messages -> and turn the Text message backup switch to On -> press the Back key.
- To back up your pictures and videos, tap photos and select the desired quality setting -> when finished, tap the Back key.
- Touch app list + settings to enable device backups -> then turn the Backup switch to On if you wish to enable automatic backups.
- From now on, whenever you connect to a Wi-Fi network, your HTC 8XT will automatically create a backup file.
- You can also manually create a backup file by tapping back up now.
Restoring Your HTC 8XT after a Factory Reset
- Turn on your HTC 8XT.
- Then from the Welcome screen, touch get started.
- Select the desired language and tap next.
- Read the Windows Phone Terms of Use as well as the Privacy Statement and tap accept if you agree.
- If you want to set up the HTC 8XT with the default settings, tap recommended.
- Or, manually set it up by tapping custom.
- Then select the preferred options and tap next.
- Set the country and time zone -> when finished, tap next.
- A Microsoft Account is required in order to restore your HTC 8XT from a backup file.
- So tap sign in to sign in to your Microsoft Account.
- In the email address and password fields, enter the necessary information and tap sign in.
- Select the desired backup options and touch next.
- Read the Preparing to restore prompt and touch next.
- Your smartphone will now begin restoring its previous settings.
- When the process is complete, tap next.
- Now read the Almost done prompt and touch next.
- Read the Secure your phone prompt -> tap next.
- Your HTC 8XT is now restored.
