Backing Up Text Messages:

  1. Open the "Messages" application
  2. Tap the "Menu" icon depicting three vertical dots
  3. Tap "Back up / Restore SMS"
  4. Tap "Back up" > "Back up SMS"
  5. Enter the name of your backup file, then tap "OK"

Restoring Text Messages:

  1. In the "Messages" app, tap the "Menu" icon
  2. Tap "Beck up / Restore SMS" > "Restore"
  3. Select how you wish to restore the messages, and tap "Next"
  4. Tap the backup file that you wish to import, and then tap "OK"

Backing Up and Restoring Text Messages via Email:

  1. Open the "Messages" app and press the "Menu" icon
  2. Tap "Back up / Restore SMS"
  3. Tap "Back up" > "Back up SMS via mail"
  4. Enter your own email address and send the email. (The backup file will be attached to the email)
  5. To restore the text messages, open the "Mail" app
  6. Open the email message containing the backup file
  7. Tap to download it, and then tap the attachment again to open the backup file and import

Backing up Your Contacts:

  1. Open the "People" application
  2. On the "People" tab, press "menu" > "Manage contacts"
  3. Tap "Import / Export contacts" > "Export to phone storage"
  4. Select an account or the type of contacts to export, and then tap "OK"

Restoring Contacts:

  1. Open the "People" app and go to the "People" tab
  2. Tap the "menu" icon
  3. Tap "Manage contacts"
  4. Press "Import / Export contacts" > "Import from phone storage"
  5. Tap the type for the imported contacts, assuming that you have more than one account set up

Backing Up Your Personal Dictionary:

  1. On the home screen, swipe down the status bar using two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Language & keyboard"
  4. Tap "HTC Sense Input"
  5. Press "Personal dictionary" > "Menu" > "Backup to storage" or "Back up to email"
  6. Tap "OK"

Restoring Your Personal Dictionary:

  1. Access the "Settings" menu
  2. Tap "Language & keyboard"
  3. Tap "HTC Sense Input"
  4. Press "Personal dictionary" and tap the "Menu" icon
  5. Tap "Restore from storage"
  6. When prompted, tap "OK"

Using HTC Backup

Performing a Daily Backup over Wi-Fi:

  1. Swipe the status bar down using two fingers
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Tap "Backup & reset"
  4. Select "Backup account"
  5. Choose "HTC Account" as your backup account, and then sign in to your account. Note: You can sign in with your HTC Account or Facebook account. Also, if you're signed in a Google account, tap it to change your backup account to your HTC Account
  6. Log in to Dropbox if necessary. Tap "Turn on" to have your photos and videos uploaded to "Dropbox" as soon as you capture them
  7. To perform a daily backup, enable the "Automatic backup" feature. Tap "Back up now" to perform a manual backup

Restoring Your Backup after Resetting Your Phone

  1. Once you turn on your device for the first time after a factory reset, select to restore content
  2. On the "Set up phone" screen, select "Restore from HTC Backup"
  3. Sign in using your HTC Account or Facebook (depending on the type of backup)
  4. Sign in to the Dropbox account that you have used to back up your phone
  5. Choose a backup and tap "Next"
  6. Wait for the restoring process to complete, and tap "OK" to continue restoring your apps

Note: If you haven't reset your phone, you can also start the restoring process by going to "Settings" > "Backup & reset" > "Restore from HTC Backup". In order to follow these steps, you'll first need to sign in to the same account on which you've backed up your phone.
