Transferring Contacts Through iTunes:

Using iTunes, you can transfer contacts from your iPhone to your HTC Butterfly S by syncing them with a Google account. Synced contacts are transferred with their phone number, name, address, notes, email, image and any other details included within the contact. This method requires access to a computer with Internet and iTunes installed.

  1. Open iTunes on your PC
  2. Use the proprietary USB cable to connect your iPhone to the computer
  3. Once connected, the iPhone will show in iTunes. Click it to open the handset's summary page
  4. Access the "Info" tab and place a checkmark next to "Sync Contacts With"
  5. From the drop-down menu, select "Google Contacts"
  6. If you haven't added a Google account in iTunes before, do so. Otherwise, you can go to "Configure" and choose an existing account
  7. Click "Apply" to begin the syncing process
  8. Once done, switch to the Butterfly S and register the same account. (NOTE: to add an account simply go to "Settings" > "Accounts"
  9. Allow the account to sync contacts with your device

Transferring Contacts through iCloud:

In case you have enabled the iCloud service on your iPhone prior to following this guide, then your contacts should be backed up on the iCloud account that you've used. You can access your account through a computer with Internet access, and export the contacts as a VCF file.

  1. Open your computer's Internet browser and visit https://www.icloud.com/
  2. Log in with the iCloud account containing your backup
  3. Click "Contacts" and select the desired contacts
  4. Once done, click the icon depicting a cog wheel, located in the bottom-left side
  5. Select "Export vCard", and the VCF file will be downloaded on your computer
  6. From here, you can perform one of the following two steps:
    • - Import the vCard file to "Google Contacts"
    • - Connect the Butterfly S to your computer. Copy the vCard file to the phone's "sdcard" directory. Then, open the "People" app, tap the "Menu" icon > "Manage contacts" > "Import / Export". Select to import the file's contents to the desired account, and then choose the vCard file

Transferring Contacts through "My Contacts Backup":

Both the iTunes and iCloud methods require you to have access to a computer. However, you can transfer contacts without requiring a computer, by installing certain apps. My Contacts Backup is an iOS application that can back up and transfer your iPhone's contacts via email.

  1. From the App Store, install "My Contacts Backup" on your iPhone
  2. Open the application and tap "Backup"
  3. After the VCF file is created, tap "Email" and attach to a new email
  4. Enter your own Gmail address as the recipient, and send the email
  5. On the Butterfly S, open the email and download the vCard file. Import its contents through the "People" application, and the "Import / Export" function

Transferring Contacts Using "Send Anywhere":

If you're looking for an app that can transfer contacts and various types of files through a peer-2-peer connection, then Send Anywhere is probably what you're looking for. This method of transfer doesn't require access to a computer.

  1. Visit the Play Store from the HTC device and install "Send Anywhere"
  2. Download the application on your iPhone as well, via the App Store
  3. Open the app on both devices
  4. From the iPhone, tap "Send" and select "Contacts"
  5. Choose the contacts that you want to share, and tap "Send" when ready
  6. Lastly, select the desired transfer method. (NOTE: As an example, you can tap "Generate QR Code" to do just that, after which you can scan the code with your Butterfly S' camera to commence the transfer process. You could also tap "Receive" on the HTC device, and enter the transfer code that has been generated randomly on the iPhone)
