Enabling Power Saver Mode:
Power Saver Mode allows you to gain extra battery life from your smartphone, by decreasing the brightness, underclocking the CPU and more. Power Saver Mode can be set to turn on automatically when the battery reaches "yellow" levels.
- Use two fingers to swipe the "Status" bar down
- Tap the " " icon next to the "Power Saver Mode" tile
- Mark or clear the check boxes next to the desired features
- To enable Power Saver Mode, tap the "On / Off" switch associated with it
Managing the Display Settings
Adjusting the Screen Timeout Duration:
- From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down using two fingers
- Tap "Settings"
- Tap "Display, gestures & buttons" under "Phone"
- Tap "Sleep" and choose a lower value, like "15 seconds"
Decreasing the Screen's Brightness:
- While on the home screen, drag the "Status" bar down using two fingers
- Tap "Settings"
- Under "Phone", tap "Display, gestures & buttons"
- Select "Brightness" and clear the "Automatic brightness" check box
- Drag the "Brightness" slider to the left and leave it to a lower but readable level
Changing the Live Wallpaper:
NOTE: live wallpapers can impact your phone's battery life, so it's recommended that you use a static image as your wallpaper. To set one:
- Swipe the "Status" bar down using two fingers
- Tap "Settings"
- Tap "Personalize" under "Personal"
- Tap "Wallpaper" and choose either "HTC wallpapers" or "Gallery"
- Select the desired image, and tap "Done" or "Accept". NOTE: when picking an image from the gallery, you will be required to resize / crop it.
Disabling Haptic Feedback and Touch Sounds:
- Access the "Settings" menu
- Tap "Sound" under "Phone"
- Clear the check boxes associated with "Vibrate on touch", "Vibrate" and "Touch sounds"
Setting the Internet Browser to Dim the Display When Loading Webpages:
- Open the default HTC "Internet" application
- Tap the "Menu" icon shown as three vertical dots
- Tap "Settings" > "Accessibility"
- Mark the check box next to "Dim screen during page loading"
Connection Management
Disabling Bluetooth and Wi-Fi:
- From the home screen, swipe the "Status" bar down
- Tap the "Bluetooth" and "Wi-Fi" tiles to disable the features
Disabling GPS:
It's highly recommended that you disable GPS when not in use, in order to maximize battery life. To do so:
- Access the "Settings" menu
- Tap "Locations"
- Clear the check box next to "Location sources"
Sleep Mode Settings:
You can set your phone so that it disables all data connections after a period time of inactivity, in order to conserve battery life. This is called "Sleep Mode". Data connections will be automatically enabled once the phone's screen is turned on.
- Swipe the "status" bar down using the home screen
- Tap "Settings"
- Select "Power" under "Phone"
- Tap "Sleep mode" to enable the feature
Managing Applications
You can gain a bit of extra juice from your battery by disabling or uninstalling applications that are not in use. This is due to the fact that applications can still use your phone's battery, by running processes and sync data in the background. To disable or remove applications:
- Access the "Settings" menu
- Tap "Apps" and access the "All" tab
- Select an application and tap "Disable"
- If you wish to uninstall an application, open the app drawer, tap and hold the app and drag it on top of the "Uninstall" button
Updating Your Applications:
It's recommended that you keep your apps up to date, as updates oftentimes include patches for better battery management. To update your applications:
- Open the "Play Store" on your phone
- Access the "My apps" menu
- Go to the "Installed" tab, and tap "Update all". To update apps individually, select an app and tap "Update"
Limiting Sync and Background Data
Changing the Weather Sync Settings:
If you're not traveling to certain locations, then you might want to disable weather sync for locations that you don't visit. This will help increasing battery life on your device. To do so:
- Tap the "Apps" icon
- Launch the "Weather application"
- Press the "Menu" button
- Tap "Edit" and remove the unvisited locations
Changing Sync Time for Email Accounts:
- Launch the "Mail" app
- Select an account
- Press "Menu" > "Settings" > "Sync, Send & Receive"
- Under "Sync schedule", adjust the desired settings
Disabling Data Sync:
- From the "Settings" menu, tap "Accounts & Sync"
- Clear the check boxes associated with the desired sync options
