Turn On Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Go to “Settings”
  3. Swipe to “Phone” and tap “Power” > “Power saver”
  4. You can customize how Power saver mode works by clearing or checking the tick boxes associated with the available features
  5. When ready, tap the feature’s switch to “ON” to enable it

Adjust the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Go to “Settings” and swipe to “Phone”
  2. Tap “Display & Gestures”
  3. Tap “Brightness level” and, if necessary, disable “Automatic brightness”
  4. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  5. Return to “Display & Gestures” and tap “Screen timeout”
  6. Select a lower value, such as “15 seconds”

Disable Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and Hotspot:

NOTE: You can improve battery life in the long run by disabling the phone’s connectivity features when they are not in use, including Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth.

  1. Open the apps drawer and go to “Settings”
  2. Tap the switches associated with “Wi-Fi” and “Bluetooth” to disable these features
  3. Access the “Settings” menu
  4. Tap “More” > “Mobile network sharing”
  5. Disable “Mobile Hotspot” and return to “Settings”
  6. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Location” > “Mode”
  7. Select “Battery saving”

Disable Background Data and Change Sync Settings:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts & sync”
  3. Select an app and tap the account name to turn off background sync
  4. Go back to “Accounts & Sync”, and select an account to change its sync settings

Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:

NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phone’s battery performance even when you don’t use them, assuming that the apps perform regular background processes. As such you might be able to improve battery life by disabling or uninstalling unused third party applications.

  1. Open the “Settings” menu
  2. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “Apps”
  3. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired app
  4. Tap “Disable” / “Force stop” to turn off the app, or tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to remove it from your phone

Switch to 2G from 4G:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Access “Settings”
  3. Tap “Mobile data” > “Network Mode”
  4. Tap “GSM Only”

Update the OS:

NOTE: Software update can sometimes improve battery life, reason why you should keep your phone up to date at all times. To check for new software updates:

  1. Go to “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Phone” and tap “About”
  3. Tap “Software information”
  4. Verify if a new OS version is available. If so, follow the on-screen steps to download and install it
