Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! When you clear app data, all the personal information stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles, login and credit card information, settings, high scores etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache > Clear data
- Tap OK to confirm
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and youre considering factory resetting the phone, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition instead. This can yield similar results to a factory reset without losing any personal data stored on the devices internal memory.
- Ensure the phone is powered off
- Press and hold Power and Volume down simultaneously
- Release Power when the phone vibrates
- When you gain access to hTC download menu, release Volume down too
- Tap Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to select the option
- Wat for the HTC logo and No Command screen to appear
- Viewing the No Command screen, press and hold Power and press and release Volume Up
- When you see the Android Recovery screen, release Power
- Navigate the recovery menu by pressing Volume down repeatedly and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- After the cache partition has been wiped, press Power while Reboot system now is highlighted to restart your device
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to master reset the device.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.
- While viewing the home screen, press and hold Power
- From the Phone options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot to Safe Mode prompt, tap Restart
- After the phone finishes rebooting, a Safe Mode label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen
- To uninstall an app, first open Settings
- Then scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Access Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
