Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: if one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal information stored within the app will be deleted, including credit card and login information, user profiles, high scores, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Select the desired app and access Storage
- Tap Clear cache > Clear data
- Tap OK to confirm
Wipe the Cache Partition:
NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, you can try clearing the phones cache partition first. This can yield similar results to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the device storage.
- Turn the phone OFF if necessary
- Press and hold Power and tap Volume Down at the same time
- When the phone vibrates, release Power
- In the hTC download menu, release Volume down too
- To navigate the menu, press Volume down repeatedly and highlight reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to confirm
- At the HTC logo and No Command screen, press and hold Power and then tap Volume Up
- Release Power once in Android Recovery
- Press Volume down to navigate the recovery menu and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to confirm
- After the cache partition is cleared, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the issues, you can check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you can reboot your device in Safe Mode and remove the app from there. In Safe Mode all third party apps are disabled.
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- In the Phone options pop-up, press and hold Power off
- Tap Restart when prompted to Reboot to Safe Mode
- After the device finishes restarting, a Safe Mode label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen
- To remove an app, open Settings and then tap Apps under Phone
- Access Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- To exit Safe Mode, simply reboot your phone as you normally would by pressing and holding Power
