Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: In case one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended, you can try fixing the issues by clearing the app cache / data.
WARNING! When you clear an applications data, all personal information stored within the app will be deleted. This includes login and credit card information, user profiles, high scores, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings and scroll to Phone
- Tap Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If the phone freezes, crashes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and youre considering factory resetting it, you can try fixing the problems by clearing the cache partition. This can yield similar results to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the phone storage.
- Make sure the phone is powered OFF
- Press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- When the phone vibrates, release Power
- At the hTC download menu, release Volume down too
- In the menu, press Volume down to navigate the menu and highlight reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to confirm the highlight
- At the HTC logo and No Command screen, press and hold Power and tap Volume Up
- At the Android Recovery screen, release Power
- Navigate the recovery menu by pressing Volume down repeatedly to highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power to confirm
- Once the cache partition is wiped, highlight Reboot system now and press Power to confirm
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt solve the problems, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: In case you have installed a third party app that causes problems and prevents you from removing it, you can try and uninstall the app from Safe Mode. All third party apps are disabled by default in Safe Mode.
- On the home screen, press and hold Power
- At the Phone options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted to Reboot to Safe Mode, tap Restart to confirm
- Once the phone finishes restarting, a Safe Mode label should be visible in the lower-left corner of the screen
- To remove an app, first go to Settings
- Scroll to Phone and tap Apps
- Go to Downloaded and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- To exit Safe Mode, simply reboot your device as you normally would by pressing and holding Power
