Clear App Cache / Data:

NOTE: In case one of your apps freezes, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended, you can try fixing the issues by clearing the app cache / data.

WARNING! When you clear an application’s data, all personal information stored within the app will be deleted. This includes login and credit card information, user profiles, high scores, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings” and scroll to “Phone”
  3. Tap “Apps” and select the desired app
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache”
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK”

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If the phone freezes, crashes, or runs out of storage inexplicably and you’re considering factory resetting it, you can try fixing the problems by clearing the cache partition. This can yield similar results to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the phone storage.

  1. Make sure the phone is powered OFF
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. When the phone vibrates, release “Power”
  4. At the “hTC download menu”, release “Volume down” too
  5. In the menu, press “Volume down” to navigate the menu and highlight “reboot to bootloader”
  6. Press “Power” to confirm the highlight
  7. At the HTC logo and “No Command” screen, press and hold “Power” and tap “Volume Up”
  8. At the “Android Recovery” screen, release “Power”
  9. Navigate the recovery menu by pressing “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “Wipe cache partition”
  10. Press “Power” to confirm
  11. Once the cache partition is wiped, highlight “Reboot system now” and press “Power” to confirm

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t solve the problems, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone.
