Back Up App Data:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to “Personal” and tap “Backup and reset”
  4. Tap “Backup account”
  5. Select an existing account or tap “Google Account” > “Add account”
  6. Sign in with your account
  7. Enable “Back up my data” and “Backup account”

Back up Contacts on an HTC or Google Account:

  1. Make sure the phone is connected to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Tap “Apps” the home screen
  3. Open “Settings” and scroll to “Personal”
  4. Tap “Backup and reset”
  5. Select “Google Account” or “HTC Account”
  6. Enable “Automatic backup” to allow the device to perform automatic daily backups over Wi-Fi
  7. To back up contacts manually, tap “Back up now”

Back Up Media Files on a Windows PC:

  1. Connect the HTC U Play to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “Notification” area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Next, locate and copy the desired media files on the phone storage
  5. Transfer the files in the desired backup location on the computer
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage via system tray and safely disconnect the phone from the USB cord

Back Up Media Files on a Mac Computer:

  1. Connect the HTC device to your computer via USB
  2. Enable “Media device” / “File Transfer” at the prompt or from the “notification” area
  3. Open the File Finder on the Mac
  4. Use the File Finder to locate the media files on the phone
  5. Copy and transfer the files in the desired backup location on the Mac storage
  6. Once the transfer is done, eject the phone storage by dragging the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and into the “Trash can”
  7. You can now safely disconnect the device from the USB cord
