Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. Swipe the Status bar down on the home screen using two fingers
  2. Drag the brightness slider towards the left to decrease luminosity
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Scroll to “Device” and tap “Display”
  5. Optionally, enable or disable “Adaptive brightness”
  6. For timeout options, tap “Sleep” and select a lower timeout value like “15 seconds”

Enable Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Battery”
  4. Press “Menu” and enable “Battery saver”

Disable Unused Connectivity Features:

NOTE: By disabling the phone’s connectivity features when unused – such as Wi-Fi, Hotspot, Bluetooth, and GPS – you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. On the home screen, swipe the Status bar down
  2. Tap the “Wi-Fi”, “Location” and “Bluetooth” quick toggles to turn the features OFF
  3. Launch “Settings”
  4. Tap “Mode” and enable “Battery saving”
  5. Return to “Settings” and tap “More” under “Wireless & networks”
  6. Tap “Tethering & mobile hotspot” and disable the feature

Use 2G Networks Temporarily:

NOTE: If your phone runs low on battery and you don’t have quick access to a battery bank or wall socket, you can conserve battery life until the next recharge by temporarily switching to 2G networks.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “More” under “Wireless & Networks”
  3. Access “Mobile networks” > “Preferred network type”
  4. Enable “2G”

Minimize Third Party App Usage:

NOTE: Some third party apps perform regular background processes that can potentially affect the device’s battery life even when the apps are not actively in use. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps from the device, you can improve battery life in the long run.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to “Device”
  3. Tap “Apps”
  4. Ensure “All apps” is selected in the drop-down menu at the top
  5. Select the desired app and tap “Force Stop” to disable it
  6. To remove the app, tap “Uninstall”

Change Settings to Reduce Sync:

NOTE: You can change your accounts’ settings to reduce the amount of data synced and conserve battery life in the long run.

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. Tap “Accounts” under “Personal”
  3. Select the desired account
  4. Change the desired settings to reduce sync

Keep The OS Updated:

NOTE: OS updates can include improvements to battery life and as such it’s recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Scroll to and tap “About phone”
  3. Tap “System updates” and check if a new update is available
  4. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to complete the process (NOTE: the update process will require at least one reboot)
