NOTE: Check this thread for instructions on how to back up app data, contacts, and media.

Restore App Data:

  1. If necessary, connect the HTC device to an active Wi-Fi network
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Access “Backup and reset”
  4. Tap “Restore from HTC Backup” and follow the on-screen prompts

Restore Contacts from an Account:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “Personal” > “Accounts & Sync”
  3. Log in with the desired Google or HTC backup account
  4. Make sure “Contacts” is checked then tap “Menu” > “Sync Now”

Restore Media Files from a PC:

  1. Connect the HTC phone to the PC via USB
  2. Enable “File Transfer” / “Media device” when prompted or from the Notification area
  3. Open the File Explorer on the computer
  4. Locate the media file backups on the computer
  5. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the folders from where they originate
  6. Once done, you can safely disconnect the device from the USB port

Restore Media Files from a Mac:

  1. Connect the Android device to the Mac via USB
  2. On the phone, enable “File Transfer” / “Media device”
  3. Open the File Finder on the Mac and locate the media file backups on the computer storage
  4. Copy and transfer the files to the phone storage, preferably in the directories of origin
  5. Once done, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop and drop it over the “trash can” to eject it
