Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your applications freezes, crashes, doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these problems by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! By clearing an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including high scores, save files, user profiles etc. If you want to avoid losing your app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Access Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt solve the issues, try Clear data > OK (check the Warning above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes or doesnt work as intended and you are considering a factory reset, you can try clearing the phones cache partition instead. This can solve the same issues as a reset, without losing any personal data on the phone storage.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Press and hold Power and Volume down simultaneously
- Release Power when the phone vibrates
- At the hTC download menu release the volume key as well
- Press Volume down repeatedly to navigate to and highlight Reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to confirm
- At the No command screen, press and hold Power and Volume Up at the same time
- Release the keys once in Recovery
- Navigate the Recovery menu using the volume keys and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power
- Once done, ensure Reboot system now is highlighted and press power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If a third-party app causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you can try uninstalling it form Safe Mode, where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- On the home screen, press and hold Power
- From the Power options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot to safe mode prompt, tap Restart. After the phone finishes rebooting, you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- Next open Settings and scroll to Phone
- Tap Apps and access Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- You can now exit Safe Mode by rebooting the device as you would do normally
