Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps crashes, freezes, takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! By clearing an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including high scores, save files, user profiles etc. If you wish to avoid losing your app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Launch Settings
- Go to Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage
- Tap Clear cache
- If this didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check Warning above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your device freezes, crashes, or doesnt work as intended and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can lead to results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the phone storage.
- Turn the phone off if necessary
- Next, press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- Release Power when the phone vibrates
- From the hTC download menu release the volume button as well
- Press Volume down repeatedly in the menu to navigate to and highlight Reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- At the No command screen, press and hold Power and Volume Up at the same time
- Release the buttons once in Android Recovery
- Navigate the menu using the volume keys and highlight Wipe cache partition
- Press Power
- Once the cache is wiped, highlight Reboot system now and press Power
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- In the Power options pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Reboot to safe mode prompt, tap Restart and once the phone finishes rebooting, you should see a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove an app, first open Settings
- Then go to Apps and access Downloaded
- Select the app you want to remove and tap uninstall > OK
- To exit Safe mode, reboot your phone as you would do normally
