Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps doesnt work as intended, crashes, takes up too much storage inexplicably etc. you can try to fix these problems by clearing the apps cache and/or data.
WARNING! When clearing an apps data, your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including login information, custom settings, save files etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app cache.
- Launch Settings
- Access Phone
- Tap Apps and switch to All apps if needed
- Select the desired app
- Tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone doesnt work properly and youre considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try fixing the issues by clearing the phones cache partition, which can have similar results to a factory reset but without the loss of personal data from the phone.
- Turn the phone Off
- Press and hold Power down then press and release Power
- At the black screen with blue and red text, release the volume button
- Press Volume down repeatedly to highlight Reboot to bootloader
- Press Power to select the option
- Once in the bootloader menu, use volume down to navigate and highlight Boot to Recovery Mode
- Press Power to select and boot to recovery
- Once in Recovery, press Volume down to highlight Wipe cache partition and press Power
- When prompted to Reboot system now press Power one last time
NOTE: If clearing the phones cache partition didnt help, check this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If one of your third-party apps causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.
- Press and hold Power
- Tap and hold Power off from the pop-up window
- At the Reboot to safe mode prompt tap Restart. Note that once the phone reboots, a Safe Mode watermark should be shown in the lower area
- To remove an app, open Settings and go to Apps
- Switch to Downloaded if necessary
- Select the desired app and tap uninstall > OK
- Once done, exit Safe Mode by rebooting the phone normally
