Check the Amount of SD Storage:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “Settings”
  3. Scroll to and tap “Storage”
  4. Swipe to “SD card” to check the storage values

Format the SD Card:

WARNING! By formatting the SD card, you will lose all data stored on the external storage, including downloaded content, media files, contacts etc. If necessary, back up your data before proceeding.

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “Settings”
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Erase SD Card”
  4. Tap “Erase SD card” again to confirm

Open or Delete SD Card Files:

  1. Tap “Apps” on the home screen
  2. Open “File Command”
  3. To open files, tap them
  4. To remove a file on the SD card, tap and hold it and then tap “Delete”

Set the Default App Storage Location:

NOTE: Default applications (such as “Camera") will store data on the phone’s internal memory. However you can change this setting for each default app, and switch to SD card storage. For the Camera app:

  1. Tap “Camera” on the home screen
  2. Tap “Settings”
  3. Tap “Data storage” and select “SD Card”

NOTE: Other default apps have the storage options within their “Settings” menus.

Transfer Files between SD and Internal Storage:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Launch “File Command”
  3. Navigate to the file you wish to transfer
  4. Tap & hold the file
  5. Select “Cut” or “Copy”
  6. Navigate to the desired location on the internal storage or SD card, and tap “Paste”

Transfer Files between a PC and SD Storage:

  1. Connect the Kyocera DuraForce XD to your PC via USB
  2. Drag the “Notification” bar down on the home screen
  3. Tap “Touch for other USB options” and make sure “Media device (MTP)” is selected
  4. On the computer, open the File Explorer
  5. Transfer the desired files from / to the computer / phone SD storage
  6. After the transfer is done, eject the phone storage from the system tray, and safely disconnect the device from the USB cord

Transfer Files between a Mac Computer and SD Storage:

  1. Open the Internet browser on the Mac
  2. Visit https://www.android.com/filetransfer/
  3. Download the app on the Mac
  4. Open “androidfiletransfer.dmg”
  5. Drag “Android File Transfer” to “Applications”
  6. Establish a USB connection between the Kyocera phone and Mac
  7. On the phone, swipe the “Notification” bar down and make sure “Media Device (MTP)” is turned on
  8. On the Mac, open “Android File Transfer”
  9. Browse for the desired files and use “drag > drop” to transfer them from / to the Mac / SD storage
  10. After you’re done transferring the files, drag the phone’s virtual drive from the desktop into the “Trash can” to eject it
  11. You can now safely disconnect the phone from the USB
