NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or is otherwise unresponsive, you might be able to fix these problems with a factory reset.
WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all personal data stored on the handsets internal memory will be deleted, including contacts, ringtones and other media files, downloaded content, apps etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Before you master reset the device, you can visit this thread for instructions on backing up personal data, and this thread for instructions on restoring data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Tap Backup & reset
- Tap Factory data reset
- Make sure Erase SD Card is disabled to avoid erasing SD card data
- Tap Reset phone
- Assuming your phone is lock screen-protected, enter the necessary PIN / password to proceed
- Tap Erase everything
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: After youve finished factory resetting your phone, you should verify if new software updates are available for download. To do this:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Scroll down to, and tap About phone
- Tap System updates and follow the on-screen instructions to download and install updates if available
