Hello,
I am new to this cell phone thing. I bought a phone off a buddy, and there is a 4 digit code on it. He does not know the code, nor do i. How can i get this code or find out how to turn this feature off. I will not let me do anything. I can dial numbers, but when i go to send, the box looking for the 4 digit code comes up. I'm so stuck but desperate to get this working. Any ideas are much appreciated. I've already tried taking it to the company, but they said that can't do anything for it. Ideas? Thanks a tonne.

Cell locked
Usually its the last four digits of the number that its programmed to but it also depends on the manufactuer like nokia is 12345 motorola is either all "0" or 1234 and lg is last four of the preprogrammed number as well as kyocera is last four digits also.

Yeah i deffinatly think it's a phone lock. I can't access the menu or anything. I'm almost thinking that i'm going to have to open the phone and reset it from the inside. Any ideas or opinions on this?
Thanks again!

try to go to this site. www.cellularpager.com email them first and see if they can do something about your phone. don't open the pnone unless u know what your doing. are you from the u.s? they are from ca.

emailed them. Wasn't much help. They said they couldn't really do anything about it. Hmm.. what to do now? I'm thinking that my last option is to open it up myself and try a few things. Not really what i wanted to have to do, but might be my last option? Looking for some "how to's" if anyone has any info on this.
Thanks again!

i recently figured out how to access the menu, phonebook, etc. So i can do all that now, but the lock is still on. Is there a way of taking it off through the menu??
getting closer hopefully.

i had this happen
I had to call the cell company and get a pin, but it was actually the 8 digit sim code. The company gave me the code over the phone and i had to disable the lock that was mysteriously put on my code with it. Even though it asked for a 4 digit code, it wanted my 8 digit code that no one even uses. The company actually was going to send me a new sim card, but i didin't want to wait, it really floored me how clueless the customer service people were.
