Ok, first off, yes, my phone did get wet i just didn't want to put that in the subject line.
So I jumped into the pool with my phone in my pocket, it wouldn't turn on after that. So the next morning I tried turning it on, the verizon script would show up and it would turn right back off, the white flash would stay illuminated and it would do other weird things. Since I don't have the insurance, i figured I would take it apart to dry it out. I carefully took the phone apart and patted the boards dry, I also used low heat from a hair dryer. Put it all back together, used my spare battery which did not get wet, and the phone now powers up and the screen pops up with the Vcast logo on it. But, it says "Service Required". There is no signal bar, or the symbol for the signal bar. All of my phone #s, pictures and videos(other than the ones on my mini-sd card) are gone. It seems like the phone was completely erased of anything. Oh on the top of the screen, there is also a symbol of a phone with a line through it. Everything on the phone works, which is keeping me hopeful, except for this "service required" thing. I called Verizon hoping it was as simple as reprogramming the phone for my ph# and account, but the person on the phone didn't seem to know and told me to take it to a verizon store. We did put my old cell phone on the line so I have something to use.
So, do you think the Verizon store will be able to make it work again? Or am I wasting my time going there?
thanks!
Jeff

welll..by reading the first...and last lines of your message i would say your screwed. (i did read the whole thing)
"service required" means its not going to get fixed at a corporate store. Now you can take it and try to get it swapped out under warranty but when they send it back for repair....they can (and will) charge your account full retail for that phone when they open it and see the water damage, and they can tell real easy. Best bet is to get on ebay or pay full retail for a new one.

thanks for the reply, so "service required: means the phone itself needs repair service? I was thinking it cell phone service required. I don't think they would even think of warrenty it since it went into the pool, and i wouldn't try to say it just stopped working, thats just not my style. Damn, well i may just have to stick with my old v60 for the next year, damn 2 year contracts
If anyone thinks I have any chance in hell of fixing my phone, let me know
Jeff
