Help with ringtones for CU500

I need help with how I put my own music as a ringtone, I've tried Audacity with its LAME program but I don't believe that program does what I want.

What I want it to take a certain portion of a song save it and send it to my phone via Bluetooth.

Advice?

A shareware program called mp3 wav editor works great but it only works for 20 songs unless you buy it.
