Or maybe not. I just got the phone today and the trick that works on my Motorola E815 (put the mp3 on the SD and txt it to a bogus number then save the file to the phone) doesn't appear to work. Is there another trick that someone's figured out?

    Thanks!

Just send the :30 MP3 ringtone to your phone. No tricks, just a simple Pix Message.

Or, you can go to mobile17 - Send Music and Photos to your Cellphone, for FREE as Ringtones and Graphics! (Free Ringtones and Graphics for your Mobile Phone.) if you are having trouble sending from your own e-mail program.

Hey there. Just wanted to say thanks for all the info you've posted on here. I've been reading the forum all night and it looks like you've covered a lot of the questions I had....but I still have a couple more

Does the ringtone HAVE to be 30 sec in order for this to work? Can it be shorter/longer?

    Thanks!

A length of :30 is a good average for a ringtone. No, it does not have to be :30 to work on your phone. I have put :45 - :50 ringtones on my own phones with no problems. Just remember that your voice mail usually picks up with :10 - :15 (approx 4 rings).

Re: vx8600 - transfer ringtones via SD?

I apologize a head of time, I'm a complete noob at this stuff and just got my 8600 just a couple of hours ago. I followed the directions and emailed a mp3 clip to my phone and [email protected]. Now how to I recieve that mail? I was thinking it would show up as a pix messege on my phone, but I have yet to receive anything. Can someone help? This is borderline embarassing.

Nevermind, I'm a dummy. I got the clip on my phone. The question is now, how do I get it on my phone and not sound like crap?

Same. I got mine on my phone, but it sounds pretty cruddy. I've been chalking it up to the speaker on the phone, but who knows?

I don't think it's the speaker personally. I checked, the file I sent to it was 400k. On the phone, it's only 80k now. So I'm guessing that's the problem right there.

Re: vx8600 - transfer ringtones via SD?

I'm a noob to using custom ringtones on cellphones and i need some info. on how to setup a file as a ringtone?
I know how to transfer songs to my new phone (vx8600) but how do i set them up as ringtones, do they need to be clipped/shortened.
If so how and what software do i use to do that?
Do the ringtone files need to be a special mp3 format or what?
Sorry for all the ? but i'm enjoying playing with my new cell.

Lol, I really have no idea yet, my sd stick is in the mail, so I'll hopefully know more when I get it. Unfortunately, this looks to be a thread full of nubs and no one who knows what they are doing LOL.

Ok, so I got my microSD card. I put a 30 sec mp3 file on there, now how do I set it as a ring tone. I can get the file to play on my phone, but as a ring tone, it's no go.

I'm pretty sure that u can't put rings on a sd card. I sent a few ringtones to my phone that sounded awsome. then i did another nand it sounded cheap and crappy.

So im not sure on that one but paul will reply soon
