Backing Up Data

Backing Up Applications:

  1. While on the home screen, tap the "All Apps" icon
  2. Tap "Settings"
  3. Under "Personal", tap "Backup & reset"
  4. Mark the check box associated with "Back up my data" to back up account data, settings and Wi-Fi passwords to the Google servers
  5. Mark the "Automatic restore" check box to restore backed up settings and data once re-installing applications

Backing Up Contacts:

  1. From any of the home screens, tap "All apps"
  2. Tap "Settings" > "Accounts"
  3. Select the account that you wish to sync
  4. Tap the "Menu" icon depicting three vertical dots, and tap "Sync now"

Backing Up Media and Pictures:

  1. Connect your handset to your computer using the USB cable that came with your smartphone
  2. Tap to select "Media sync (MTP)"
  3. On the computer, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the phone's disk drive
  4. Click the desired folders and files, copy them and paste them on the desired location on your computer
  5. Once finished, safely disconnect your smartphone from the computer by clicking on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon located in the system tray > "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"

Restoring Data

NOTE: if your applications and contacts have been backed up using the methods described above, then all your apps and contacts will be automatically restored on your device next time you sign into your Google account.

Restoring Media and Pictures:

  1. Connect your smartphone to your PC using the USB cable
  2. Tap "Media sync (MTP)"
  3. On your computer, navigate to where you have backed up your media and pictures
  4. Copy the desired content, and paste it in the phone's disk drive, in the appropriate folders (from where you have backed them up in the first place)
  5. After the transfer is finished, safely disconnect your smartphone. To do so, click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the system tray, click "Safely Remove Mass Storage Device" > "OK"
