Managing Email Accounts

Adding an Email Account Manually:

  1. Press the "Menu" key while viewing a home screen
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Under "Personal", tap "Accounts & Sync"
  4. Tap "Add Account"
  5. Tap "Email" > "Other"
  6. Type in your email address and password
  7. Tap "Manual setup" and select either "IMAP4" or "POP3"
  8. Tap "Next"
  9. Enter the information for your incoming server
  10. Verify your password and username
  11. Edit the account name if necessary and tap "Done"
  12. Tap "Next" and provide the outgoing server information
  13. Once again, verify your password and username, and tap "Done"
  14. Press "Next"

Adding a Google Account:

  1. While viewing a home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Tap "Accounts & sync" under "Personal"
  4. Tap "Add account" > "Google" > "Existing". NOTE: you can tap "New" instead of "Existing", assuming that you wish to follow the on-screen instructions to create a new account
  5. Type in your email address and password
  6. Tap the "Next" arrow
  7. Tap "OK" in Google's terms and policy documents. Optionally, clear the "Keep me up to date" check box
  8. In the Google Wallet setup, tap "Not now". NOTE: alternatively, you can tap "Set up credit card" if you wish to be able and purchase Google Play Store products
  9. Optionally, clear the "Keep this phone backed up with my Google Account" check box
  10. Tap the "Next" arrow and you're done

Deleting an Email Account:

  1. From the home screen, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Under "Personal", tap "Accounts & sync"
  4. Choose the account that you wish to remove
  5. Tap your account name at the top of the screen
  6. Press "Menu" and tap "Remove account"
  7. Tap "OK" to confirm

Sending and Managing Email Messages

Sending an Email Through the "Email" Application:

  1. Tap the "Email" icon located on the main home screen
  2. Tap "Write"
  3. In the "To" field, enter the recipient's email address. Alternatively, you can tap the "Contacts" icon and select a contact from your phonebook
  4. Tap the "Subject" field and enter the desired message
  5. To attach a file, tap "Attach", choose the desired file type and select the file, then tap "OK"
  6. Tap the message field and type in your email message
  7. When ready, tap "Send"

Using the "Gmail" Application to Send an Email:

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon while viewing a home screen
  2. Open the "Gmail" application
  3. Tap the "New" icon, depicting an envelope next to a "+" sign
  4. Tap the "To" field and type in your recipient's email address
  5. Type in a subject in the appropriate field
  6. In the "Compose email" field, enter your email
  7. If you wish to attach a file, tap the "Menu" icon located in the top-right corner, and select "Attach picture" or "Attach video", then browse for the desired file
  8. To send the email, tap the "Send" arrow located in the upper-right area of the screen

Deleting an Email from the "Email" Application:

  1. Tap the "Email" icon located on the home screen
  2. Locate and open the email that you wish to delete
  3. Tap the icon depicting a "Trash can"

Deleting Emails in the "Gmail" Application:

  1. Tap the "Apps" icon located on the home screen
  2. Open "Gmail"
  3. Navigate to, and open the desired email
  4. Tap the "Trash can" icon to delete the message

Enabling / Disabling Email Notifications:

  1. Open the apps drawer
  2. Select "Email" or "Gmail", depending on the type of notification that you wish to enable / disable
  3. Press the "Menu" key
  4. Tap "Settings" and select an account to edit
  5. Mark or clear the "Notifications" check box
