Enabling Battery Saving Mode:

  1. Press the "Menu" key while viewing a home screen
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Access the "General" tab
  4. Tap "Battery" > "Battery saver"
  5. Tap the ON / OFF switch associated with "Battery saver" and set it to "ON"
  6. To change how battery saver works, tap "Turn Battery saver on" and perform the following:
    • Select the battery level at which the battery saver mode automatically starts
    • Clear or mark the check boxes associated with "Bluetooth", "Wi-Fi" etc. These features will be either enabled or disabled while in Battery Saving mode
    • To access more options, tap the "Settings" icon associated with "Brightness" and "Screen timeout"

Lowering the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:

  1. While viewing the home screen, press the "Menu" button
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Access the "Display" tab
  4. Drag the "brightness" slider to the left to decrease brightness
  5. Tap "Screen timeout" and select a lower value, such as "15 seconds"

Disabling Wi-Fi, HotSpot, GPS and Bluetooth:

NOTE: It's highly recommended that you disable all connectivity features when they're not in use. By doing so you can tremendously increase your phone's battery performance.

  1. Press "Menu" while on a home screen
  2. Tap "System settings" > "Tethering & Networks"
  3. Tap "Mobile HotSpot"
  4. Clear the check box next to "Mobile HotSpot"
  5. Press "Back" until you return to the "Settings" menu
  6. Scroll to "Personal" and tap "Location access"
  7. Clear the check box next to "GPS satellites"
  8. Return to the home screen and drag the "Status" bar down
  9. Tap the "Wi-Fi" and "Bluetooth" tiles in order to disable these features

Changing the Sync Settings for Applications:

  1. While on a home screen, press the "Menu" key
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Under "Personal", tap "Accounts & sync"
  4. Clear the check box associated with "Auto-sync data"
  5. If you want to reduce sync for individual apps, select the desired application

Disabling Background Data:

  1. Press the "Menu" key while viewing a home screen
  2. Tap "System settings" > "Mobile data"
  3. Press the "Menu" button
  4. Mark the "Restrict background data" check box

Minimizing the Use of Third Party Apps:

NOTE: while you may not use certain third party applications installed on your phone, these apps can still have an impact on your phone's battery performance, as they can still run processes in the background. As such, it's highly advised to disable or uninstall unused applications. To do so:

  1. Tap the "menu" button while viewing a home screen
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Under "Device", tap "Apps"
  4. Choose the app that you wish to edit
  5. Tap "Disable" to turn off the app. To completely remove it, tap "Uninstall" instead

Switching from 4G to 2G Connectivity:

  1. Press "Menu" while on a home screen
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Tap "Tethering & Networks"
  4. Scroll to "Network settings" and tap "Mobile networks"
  5. Mark the check box next to "Use only 2G networks". Clear the check box to return to 4G speeds

Updating to the Latest Firmware Available:

NOTE: many times, smartphone manufacturers release updates that deal with potential battery life issues, or improve the power management of a smartphone. If such an update has been released on your phone, then you can perform the steps below in order to download it. NOTE: if no update is available, following these steps will have no effect on your phone's battery performance

  1. From the home screen, press "Menu"
  2. Tap "System settings"
  3. Under "System", tap "About phone"
  4. Tap "System updates" > "Check now"
  5. Assuming that a new update is available, follow the on-screen instructions to download and apply it
