WARNING! Factory resetting your phone will result in the deletion of all personal data stored on the internal memory, including apps, ringtones, downloads, contacts, images and so on. Furthermore all settings will be restored to factory values. However, data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.
NOTE: Before factory resetting the device, you can visit this thread to learn how you can back up data on the LG V10. You can also visit this thread for a guide on how to restore data.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- If necessary, tap menu and switch to List view
- Tap Backup & reset under Personal
- Select or clear the check boxes associated with Back up my data and Automatic restore
- Tap Backup account and follow the on-screen steps to create or sign in with a Google account
- Tap Factory data reset
- Optionally, choose to Erase SD card data too
- Tap Reset phone > Next
- Tap Delete all to confirm
- Tap OK
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: If you are unable to reset the phone using the method above, you can try resetting it from the Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses.
- Turn off the phone
- Press and hold Power and Volume down at the same time
- At the LG logo, quickly release and re-hold Power (keep Volume down pressed)
- Factory data reset should appear. Press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- At the Erase all user data and restore default settings pop-up, highlight Yes using Volume down
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: After a fresh factory reset you should check for new software updates. To do so:
- Make sure the phone is connected to a Wi-Fi network
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Tap Menu and if necessary, switch to List view
- Scroll to System and tap About phone
- Tap Update Center > System updates
- Tap Check for Update
- If an update is available, tap next and follow the on-screen prompts to install it on the phone
