Enable Battery Saving Mode:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Go to Settings
- Access the General tab
- Scroll to Phone Management and tap Battery & power savings
- Tap the Battery saver switch to enable the feature
- Select a battery level at which battery saver mode enables automatically
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Tap Settings
- Access the Display tab
- Scroll to Basic Settings and tap Brightness
- Drag the brightness slider to the left
- From the Display tab, tap Screen timeout and select a lower timeout duration, such as 15 seconds
Disable Wi-Fi, Hotspot, GPS, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features whenever they are not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings and go to the Networks tab
- Scroll to Connectivity and tap Tethering
- Tap Mobile Hotspot and disable the Hotspot switch
- Tap Back to return to Settings
- Tap the switches associated with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth to disable these features
- Access the General tab and scroll to Personal
- Tap Location and tap Mode
- Select Battery saving (Networks only)
Switch from 4G to 2G:
- Go to Settings
- Tap the Networks tab
- Scroll to Connectivity and tap More
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Enable Use only 2G networks
Disable Background Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- Tap Mobile Data under the Networks tab
- Tap Menu and select Restrict background data
- Tap OK
Change the Sync Settings:
NOTE: By lowering the amount of data synced with your device / apps / accounts, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Scroll to Personal and tap Accounts & sync
- Clear the Auto-sync data option
- Under Accounts, select an app to change its sync settings
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect your phones battery performance even when you dont use them assuming that the apps run regular processes and tasks in the background. As such, you might be able to improve battery life by removing or disabling unused third party apps.
- Go to Settings
- Access the General tab
- Scroll to Phone Management and tap Apps
- Go to the Downloaded tab
- Tap and hold the desired app
- Select to Force stop to disable the app, or tap Uninstall to remove it completely
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: Software updates can include improvements to battery life, so you should keep your OS up to date. To check for new updates:
- Tap Apps on the home screen
- Open Settings and go to General
- Scroll to Phone Management and tap About phone
- Tap Update Center > System updates
- Tap Check for update and if a new update is available, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply it
