Turn On Battery Saving Mode:
- Open the apps drawer
- Launch Settings
- If necessary, access the General tab
- Swipe to Phone management
- Tap Battery & power saving
- Set the switch to ON
- You can customize how Battery Saving Mode works by clearing / ticking the check boxes, and by selecting a battery percentage at which the mode should enable automatically
Disable Wi-Fi, GPS, Hotspot, and Bluetooth:
NOTE: By disabling your phones connectivity features when not in use, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Go to the Networks tab if necessary
- Tap Tethering under Connectivity
- Tap Mobile Hotspot and set the switch to OFF
- Return to the Settings menu
- Tap the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth switches to disable these features
- Under Personal, tap Location (GPS)
- Tap Mode > Battery saving (Networks only)
Use 2G Connectivity:
NOTE: In case your smartphone is running low on battery and you dont have access to a wall socket, you can try to increase battery life by switching to 2G connectivity.
- Access the Settings menu
- If necessary, go to the Networks tab
- Under Connectivity, tap More
- Tap Mobile networks > Network mode
- Select GSM only
Lower the Screen Brightness and Timeout Duration:
- Open the apps drawer
- Access Settings
- Go to the Display tab if necessary
- Under Other screen settings, tap Brightness
- Drag the brightness slider towards the left side of the screen to decrease luminosity
- Tap Screen timeout and select a lower value, such as 15 seconds
Minimize the Use of Third Party Applications:
NOTE: Certain third party apps can affect battery performance even when not in use. This is due to the fact that certain apps perform regular background processes. As such, by disabling or removing unused third party apps, you might be able to improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- If necessary, switch to the General tab
- Under Phone Management, tap Apps
- Go to the Downloaded tab
- Tap and hold the desired application
- Tap Force stop to turn off the app, or tap Uninstall to remove the app from the device
Disable Background Data:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Access the Networks tab if necessary
- Tap Mobile data
- Tap Menu and enable Restrict background data
- Tap OK to confirm
Change Sync Settings:
NOTE: By setting your accounts to sync less data / less often, you can improve battery life in the long run.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- If necessary, go to the General tab
- Under Personal tap Accounts & Sync
- Disable Auto-sync data
- Under Accounts, adjust the sync settings for your account / apps
Keep the OS Up to Date:
NOTE: Software updates can include battery life improvements, so its recommended to keep the OS up to date at all times. To check for updates:
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to Settings
- Access the General tab if necessary
- Tap About phone under Phone Management
- Tap Update Center > System updates
- Tap Check for update and if necessary, follow the on-screen steps to download and apply any available updates
