Clear App Cache / Data:
NOTE: If one of your third party applications doesnt work as intended; it crashes, freezes, is unresponsive or takes up too much storage space inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache / data.
WARNING! When clearing an apps data, all personal data stored within the app will be deleted! (Such as login and credit card information, saved games and high scores, profiles etc. However, clearing the apps cache can have similar beneficial effects without losing any personal data.
- Open the apps drawer
- Go to the phones Settings menu
- Access the General tab
- Tap Apps under Phone Management
- Go to All or Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > Yes to confirm
Clear the Phones Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably etc. you might be able to fix these problems by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have similar effects as a factory reset without losing any personal data.
- Open the Settings menu
- Go to the General tab
- Tap Storage under Phone Management
- Wait for the phone to finish calculating data
- Tap Clear data > Yes
- Once the cache is cleared, it should no longer appear under Storage. (Or at least a very small amount of cached data will appear)
NOTE: If wiping the cache partition didnt solve the problems, alternatively you can visit this thread for instructions on how you can factory reset the LG Tribute 5 instead.
Reboot in Safe Mode and Remove an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to easily remove the app from within Safe Mode.
- Wake up the screen if necessary
- While viewing the home screen, press & hold Power
- In the power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the Restart in safe mode prompt, tap OK
- After the phone restarts, a Safe Mode label should be present in the lower area of the home screen
- Next, access the Settings menu
- Go to the General tab
- Tap Apps under Phone management
- Go to Downloaded
- Select the desired app and tap Uninstall > OK
- To exit safe mode, simply press and hold Power and restart your device as you normally would
