WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all personal data stored on the phones internal memory will be deleted. This includes ringtones, media files, applications, contacts etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values.
NOTE: Before your reset the phone, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to back up data, and this thread for instructions on restoring data. Remember that a factory reset will not affect data stored on the SD and SIM cards.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab if necessary
- Tap Backup & reset
- Select or clear the check boxes associated with Back up my data and Automatic restore
- Tap Backup account and, if necessary, follow the on-screen steps to create a Google backup account
- Tap Factory data reset
- Review the warning message and choose whether or not to Erase SD Card too. WARNING! By enabling this option, all data on the SD card will be deleted by the factory reset
- Tap Reset phone > Next
- Tap Delete all > OK
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: In case you are unable to factory reset your phone via settings as detailed above, alternatively you can factory reset the device from the Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses as explained below.
- First, make sure the phone is powered off
- Press and hold Volume Down and Power at the same time
- At the LG logo, quickly release and re-hold Power (make sure Volume Down is being held pressed)
- Release the buttons when Factory data reset appears
- Press (and release) Volume Down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- At the Erase all user data and restore default settings prompt, press Volume down to highlight Yes
- Press Power to confirm
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: After a fresh factory reset, its recommended to check if new software updates are available for download. To do this:
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Scroll to, and tap About phone
- Tap Software info
- Verify if a new update is available for download, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and install the available update(s). NOTE: This process will require you to reboot your phone
