WARNING! When you master reset your phone, all data stored on the device’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes apps and media files, ringtones, contacts, downloaded content etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values. Data stored on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected by the reset.

Master Reset via Settings:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. If necessary, access the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Backup & reset”
  4. Enable or disable “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
  5. Tap “Backup account” and either select or create a Google backup account
  6. Tap “Factory data reset”
  7. Optionally, you can choose to “Erase SD Card” at the prompt
  8. When ready, tap “Reset phone” > “Next”
  9. Tap “Delete all” > “OK” to confirm

Master Reset Using Hardware Buttons:

NOTE: If you are unable to reset the phone from the Settings menu, alternatively you can try resetting the device using hardware keys. To do this:

  1. First, turn off the phone
  2. Then, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. At the “LG logo”, quickly release and re-hold the “Power” key
  4. Release both buttons at the “Factory data reset”
  5. Press “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to confirm the highlighted option
  7. At the “Erase all user data and restore default settings” prompt, use “Volume down” to highlight “Yes”
  8. Press “Power” to confirm

Check for OS Updates:

NOTE: It’s recommended to check for software updates after a factory reset.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access the “General” tab
  3. Tap “About phone” > “Software info”
  4. Check if an update is available. If applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update. NOTE: the update process will require a reboot
