Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, crashes, freezes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try solving these problems by clearing the app’s cache and/or data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including login and credit card information, save files, user profiles, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the app’s cache.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to the “General” tab
  3. Tap “Apps” and go to “All”
  4. Select the desired app and tap “Clear cache”
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t fix the problems, tap “Clear data”
  6. Tap “Yes” to confirm (check WARNING above)

Clear the Phone’s Cache Partition:

NOTE: In case your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can yield results similar to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the phone’s internal memory.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access the “General” tab and tap “Storage”
  3. Wait for the phone to finish calculating data
  4. When done, tap “Cached data” > “Yes” to confirm and clear the cache partition

NOTE: If clearing the phone’s cache partition didn’t help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the phone instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third party applications preventing you from removing them, you should be able to uninstall the apps from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third party apps are disabled by default.

  1. On the home screen, press and hold “Power”
  2. From the Power Management pop-up, tap and hold “Power Off”
  3. When prompted to “Restart in Safe Mode”, tap “OK”. NOTE: Once the phone finishes rebooting, it should display a “Safe Mode” watermark in the lower area of the home screen
  4. Once in Safe Mode, first open “Settings”
  5. Access the “General” tab if necessary and tap “Apps”
  6. Swipe to “Downloaded” and select the desired application
  7. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm
  8. Once done, you can exit Safe Mode by rebooting your device normally
