WARNING! When you factory reset your device, all your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted, including applications, downloaded content, contacts, media files and ringtones etc. Additionally, all settings will be restored to factory values, however data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Launch “Settings”
  2. If necessary, switch to “Tab view”
  3. Access the “General” tab
  4. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Phone management”
  5. Clear or select the tick boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
  6. Tap “Backup account” and register or create a backup account
  7. Tap “Factory data reset” and choose whether you wish to “Erase SD Card” as well
  8. When ready, tap “Reset phone”
  9. In case your device is lock-screen protected, enter your PIN / password to proceed
  10. When ready, tap “Delete all” > “Reset”

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise it prevents you from resetting it via Settings, alternatively you can try resetting the phone from Android Recovery. To access Recovery:

  1. First turn the phone Off if necessary
  2. Press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. When the “LG” logo appears, quickly release and re-hold the “Power” button
  4. At the “Factory data reset” screen, release all buttons
  5. Press “Volume down” repeatedly to highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to confirm
  7. At the “Erase all user data and restore default settings” prompt, highlight “Yes” and press “Power”
