WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data stored on the phone’s internal memory will be deleted. This includes downloaded content, media files and ringtones, apps, contacts etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values, however, data located on the SD and SIM cards will not be affected.

Factory Reset via Settings:

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. If necessary, switch to “Tab view”
  3. Go to the “General” tab
  4. Tap “Backup & reset” under “Phone management”
  5. Tick or clear the check boxes associated with “Back up my data” and “Automatic restore”
  6. Tap “Backup account” and select the desired backup account
  7. When ready, tap “Factory data reset”
  8. Choose whether you want to “Erase SD Card” as well
  9. Tap “Reset phone”
  10. If the device is protected by a lock screen, enter your password/PIN to proceed
  11. Tap “Delete all” > “Reset” to confirm

Factory Reset via Recovery:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, or otherwise it prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can reset the device from Android System Recovery. To access the Recovery menu:

  1. First turn the phone off
  2. Next, press and hold “Power” and “Volume down” at the same time
  3. At the “LG” logo, quickly release and re-hold the “Power” button
  4. Release all buttons at the “Factory data reset” screen
  5. Once in the menu, press “Volume down” repeatedly to navigate to and highlight “Yes”
  6. Press “Power” to confirm the selected option
  7. At the “Erase all user data and restore default settings” prompt, highlight “Yes”
  8. Press “Power” to confirm
