WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all data stored on the internal memory will be deleted, including apps, ringtones and media files, downloaded content, contacts etc. Furthermore, all settings will be restored to factory values. However, data located on the SIM and SD cards will not be affected.
NOTE: You can visit this thread for a guide on how to back up data on the LG device, and this thread for instructions on how to restore data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Tap Backup & reset
- Optionally, turn Back up my data and Automatic restore ON or OFF
- Tap Backup account
- Select or create an existing Google account
- Tap Factory reset when ready and optionally choose whether or not to Erase SD Card
- Tap Reset phone > Next
- Press Delete all > OK to confirm
Factory Reset via Android Recovery:
NOTE: If you are unable to reset the device from the Settings menu, alternatively you can try resetting the phone from the Android Recovery menu, which can be accessed by performing a combination of button presses as follows:
- First turn the phone off
- Then, press and hold Volume down and Power simultaneously
- At the LG logo, quickly release and re-hold Power
- At the Factory data reset screen, release both keys
- From the Recovery menu, press volume down repeatedly to highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- At the Erase all user data and restore default settings prompt, highlight Yes and press Power
Check for OS Updates:
NOTE: After factory resetting the device its recommended to check if new OS updates are available for download. To do this:
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Tap About phone > Software info
- Check if a new update is available, and if applicable, follow the on-screen prompts to download and apply the update (NOTE: the process will require to reboot the phone at least once)
