Clear App Data/Cache:
NOTE: In case one of your apps freezes, crashes, doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the apps cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal information stored within the app will be deleted, including user profiles and settings, save files, login and credit card information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to the General tab
- Scroll to Phone management and tap Apps
- Select the desired app and tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check WARNING above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phones cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset without losing any personal data on the device.
- Open Settings
- Access the General tab
- Scroll to Phone Management and tap Storage
- Access Internal storage
- Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data and tap Cached data > Clear to confirm
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the device instead.
Enable Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app from within Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default. To reboot the phone in Safe Mode:
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- From the power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- When prompted with Restart in Safe Mode tap OK
- Wait for the device to reboot and once done, a Safe Mode watermark should be visible in the lower area of the home screen
- To uninstall an app, first go to Settings
- From the General tab, scroll to Phone management and tap Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK to confirm
- Once the app has been removed, reboot your device by pressing and holding Power then tapping Power off and restart
