Clear App Cache/Data:
NOTE: If one of your apps freezes, crashes, doesnt work as intended or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app cache or data.
WARNING! When you clear an apps data, all your personal data stored within the app, including user profiles, settings, credit card and login information, save files etc. will be deleted. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the apps cache.
- Open Settings
- Go to the General tab
- Scroll to and go to Apps
- Select the desired app
- Tap Storage > Clear cache
- If clearing the cache didnt help, tap Clear data > OK (check the WARNING above)
Clear the Cache Partition:
NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or doesnt work as intended and youre considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the cache partition. This can have results similar to a factory reset without losing personal data on the device.
- Open Settings
- Access Phone management
- Tap Storage > Internal storage
- Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
- Tap Cached data > Clear
NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didnt help, you can visit this thread for a guide on how to factory reset the phone instead.
Enable Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:
NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to uninstall the app while in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default. To reboot to Safe Mode:
- Press and hold Power on the home screen
- In the power management pop-up, tap and hold Power off
- At the restart in Safe Mode prompt tap OK
- Once the phone reboots, a Safe Mode watermark should be shown in the lower area of the home screen
- To remove the app, go to Settings and then access Apps under Phone Management
- Tap Apps and select the desired app
- Tap Uninstall > OK
- After the app has been removed, exit Safe Mode by rebooting your phone as you normally do
