Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, freezes, crashes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored within the app will be deleted, including settings and save files, user profiles, credit card and login information etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the cache.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “General”
  3. Access “Apps” and select the desired application
  4. Tap “Storage” > “Clear cache”
  5. If clearing the cache didn’t help, tap “Clear data” > “OK” (check the WARNING above)

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicable or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering factory resetting it, alternatively you can try fixing these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can have similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data on the device.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Access “Phone Management”
  3. Tap “Storage” > “Internal storage”
  4. Wait for the phone to finish calculating the data
  5. Tap “Cached data” > “Clear”

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can visit this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Remove an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from removing it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode. In this mode, all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. On the home screen, press and hold “Power”
  2. In the Power management popup tap and hold “Power off”
  3. When prompted to “Restart in Safe Mode” tap “OK”
  4. Wait for the phone to reboot and once done, it should show a Safe Mode watermark in the lower area of the home screen
  5. To remove an app, open “Settings” and access “Phone management”
  6. Tap “Apps’ and go to “All apps”
  7. Select the desired app
  8. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK” to confirm
  9. After the process completes, you can exit Safe Mode by rebooting the device as you would do normally
