Clear App Cache/Data:

NOTE: If one of your apps doesn’t work as intended, freezes, crashes, or takes up too much storage inexplicably, you can try fixing these issues by clearing the app’s cache/data.

WARNING! When you clear an app’s data, all your personal data stored with the app will be deleted, including user profiles and login information, save files, settings etc. To avoid losing personal app data, clear ONLY the cache.

  1. Open “Settings”
  2. Go to “General”
  3. Tap “Apps” and select the desired app
  4. Go to “Storage”
  5. Tap “Clear cache”
  6. If clearing the app cache didn’t help, you can try “Clear data” > “OK” (check the Warning above)

Clear the Cache Partition:

NOTE: If your phone freezes, crashes, runs out of storage inexplicably or otherwise doesn’t work as intended and you’re considering a factory reset, alternatively you can try solving these issues by clearing the phone’s cache partition. This can lead to similar results to a factory reset without losing personal data from the phone.

  1. Open “Settings” and go to “Phone Management”
  2. Tap “Storage”
  3. Tap “Internal storage” and wait for the device to finish calculating the data
  4. Tap “Cached data” > “Clear” to confirm

NOTE: If clearing the cache partition didn’t help, you can check this thread for instructions on how to factory reset the device instead.

Reboot to Safe Mode and Uninstall an App:

NOTE: If you have installed a third-party app that causes issues and prevents you from uninstalling it, you should be able to remove the app while in Safe Mode where all third-party apps are disabled by default.

  1. Press and hold “Power” from the home screen
  2. In the power management pop-up, tap and hold “Power off”
  3. When prompted to “Reboot in Safe Mode” tap “OK”
  4. Note that after the phone reboots, a “Safe Mode” watermark should be visible in the lower area of the homescreen
  5. To remove an app, first open “Settings”
  6. Go to “Apps” and if necessary switch to “All apps”
  7. Select the desired app
  8. Tap “Uninstall” > “OK”
  9. To exit Safe Mode, simply reboot the phone as you would do normally
