WARNING! When you factory reset your phone, all your personal data located on the phones internal memory will be deleted. This includes downloaded content, ringtones and other media files, contacts, applications etc. In addition, all settings will be restored to factory values but data stored on the SIM and SD storage wont be affected.
NOTE: Before you factory reset the device, you can check this thread for a guide on backing up data, and this thread for instructions on restoring data.
Factory Reset via Settings:
- Launch Settings
- Access Phone Management and tap Backup & Reset
- Tick or clear the check boxes associated with Automatic restore and Back up my data
- Tap Backup account
- Select the desired account and tap Factory data reset
- Optionally choose to Erase SD Card as well
- If your phone is protected by a lock screen, enter your PIN/ password to proceed
- Tap Delete all > Reset to confirm
Factory Reset via Recovery:
NOTE: If your phone crashes, freezes, or otherwise prevents you from resetting it using the method above, alternatively you can try resetting the phone via Recovery.
- First turn the phone off if necessary
- Then press and hold Power and Volume down simultaneously
- At the LG screen, quickly release and re-press Power
- At the Factory data reset screen, release the keys
- Once in Recovery, press Volume down repeatedly to navigate the menu and highlight Yes
- Press Power to select the highlighted option
- When prompted to Erase all user data and restore default settings highlight Yes
- Press Power one last time
